The buffalo skull is a symbol of strength and knowledge to the Lakota people and eagle feathers were only awarded for accomplishments.
The craftsman who made this item is an elder from the Kulwicasa Oyate Lakota tribe in Lower Brule, SD.
He hand cut the design out of chipboard and painted eagle feathers on it. It measures approx 22" wide x 14-1/2" high with the 4 key hooks sticking up approx 1" off the board. (please see the bear paw pictures to see the hooks)
